AutoInsQuoter.com helps drivers shop for and switch auto insurance. This policy explains what personal information we collect, what we do with it, who we sell or share it with, and the choices you have. AutoInsQuoter.com isn't operated under a separate registered company name, so "AutoInsQuoter.com", "we" and "us" all mean this website.

Short version: if you fill in our quote form, we sell the details you enter to auto insurance companies, agents, brokers and companies that connect drivers to them, so they can contact you with quotes. You can tell us to stop selling or sharing your information at any time using our contact form.

Information we collect

When you browse. Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time). We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to count visits and see which pages are used; GA4 sets cookies and uses your IP address to estimate a rough location. We use it only for measurement, not for advertising.

When you request a quote. Our quote form asks for:

• contact details: first and last name, email address, phone number, street address, city, state and ZIP code;
• driver details: date of birth, gender, marital status, whether you or a family member has served in the military, highest level of education, a self-described credit score range (we don't run a credit check) and whether you own or rent your home;
• vehicle and insurance details: year, make and model of up to two vehicles and whether you own or lease them, the coverage level you want, whether you're currently insured and with whom and for how long, whether you have a valid licence and whether you need an SR-22.

Proof of your consent. With each quote request we store the exact consent wording you agreed to, the date and time, your IP address, browser details, the page you were on and whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal. Our quote page also runs TrustedForm, a service from ActiveProspect that records your visit to the form (what was on the page and how you filled it in) to create a certificate showing that you agreed to be contacted.

When you contact us. Messages sent through our contact form, including privacy requests: your name, email address, optional phone number and state, your message, and the IP address and browser used. They are emailed to us and a copy is stored on our servers.

How we use it

• To pass your quote request to auto insurance companies, agents, brokers and companies that connect drivers to them, so they can give you quotes.
• To keep a record that proves you agreed to be contacted.
• To spot spam and fake submissions and keep the site secure.
• To understand how the site is used and improve it.
• To handle privacy requests and meet our legal obligations.

Who we sell or share it with

We sell personal information. The details from your quote request, together with the record of your consent, are sold to auto insurance companies, agents, brokers, and companies that connect drivers with them. Those companies can contact you as described in the consent you gave and handle your information under their own privacy policies. We only work with companies in auto insurance.

We also use service providers who handle information on our behalf: our hosting and email providers, Google (Analytics) and ActiveProspect (TrustedForm). We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights. We don't sell the data we collect when you just browse the site.

Calls, texts and emails

You can stop text messages by replying STOP. You can tell a caller to stop calling, or use an email's unsubscribe link. To ask us to stop contacting you and to stop passing your details to new companies, choose "Stop contacting me" on our contact form; we'll act on it within 10 business days. Companies that already received your request keep their own contact lists, so please also tell them directly.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example California, and other states with consumer privacy laws), you can ask us to:

• stop selling or sharing your personal information (opt out);
• tell you what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it and who we sold or disclosed it to;
• delete your personal information;
• correct information that's wrong;
• reconsider a decision we made on one of your requests (appeal).

We won't treat you differently for using these rights. California residents can also ask, once a year, for details of the personal information we disclosed to other companies for their own direct marketing.

How to make a request. Use our contact form. An authorized agent can make a request for you; we may ask for proof that you gave them permission. To opt out we don't need to verify who you are. For other requests we match the details you give against our records and may email you to confirm. We'll confirm we received a request within 10 business days and reply within 45 days (if we need up to 45 more days we'll tell you why). We act on opt-out requests within 10 business days. When you ask us to delete your information, we'll also tell the companies we sold it to.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of information collected from that browser. That includes a quote request sent with GPC switched on: we won't sell it, which also means it won't be passed to companies for quotes.

California notice at collection

We collect these categories of personal information, from you directly, from your browser or device, and through our analytics and TrustedForm providers:

• Identifiers and customer records (name, email, phone, address, IP address) — sold to the companies described above;
• Characteristics of protected classifications (age and date of birth, gender, marital status, military or veteran status in your family) — sold;
• Commercial information (vehicles, current insurance, coverage wanted) — sold;
• Education information (highest level of education) — sold;
• Internet or network activity (logs, analytics, the TrustedForm recording of the quote form) — disclosed to service providers; the TrustedForm certificate goes to companies that buy your quote request;
• Approximate geolocation (ZIP code, and location estimated from your IP address) — the ZIP code is sold.

We don't collect sensitive personal information as defined by California law (such as Social Security, driver's licence or account numbers), and we don't offer financial incentives for your data.

How long we keep it

• Quote requests and consent records: up to 5 years after you submit them, so we can show you agreed to be contacted.
• Privacy requests: 24 months, as California's regulations require.
• Google Analytics data: no longer than 14 months.
• Server logs: a limited time for security, then deleted.

Security

The site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, quote requests are stored on private servers and access is limited. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect what you give us.

Children

This site is for adults. You must be at least 18 to request a quote, and we don't knowingly collect or sell personal information about anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page and the date at the top whenever we change how we handle personal information.
